CONDUCT IN THE DO JANG
The do jang is an area where young and old, men and women, regardless of race or creed, come to learn Tae Kwon Do for the promotion of their mental, moral, physical and cultural education. You are studying a traditional martial art. Conduct yourself in a formal, respectful manner at all times both in and out of the studio.
Always refer to the Instructors (Blue Jackets) as "Sir" or "Mam". Students should always make themselves known to the Instructors upon arrival by greeting them before they enter the Do jang and bowing to say hello. Martial Arts is build on respect and a student who does not show this respect may be asked to leave. Students must also respect each other, cultivating the virtues of modesty and humility.
No one is allowed to leave the do jang without the Instructor's permission. If you need to leave raise your hand to catch the Instructors attention. Your Instructor will dismiss you with a bow.
Prompt and regular attention is expected of all students. You should arrive 15 minutes before your class starts. If you arrive late, proceed to the side of the class and bow twice (respect to instructor and class mates) and sit in sitting position No. 1 until your presence in acknowledged by your instructor. You will then stand and bow to your instructor and join at the back of the class regardless of belt rank.
NO ONE is allowed to teach without the Instructors permission.
Students are to practice caution at all times and at no time participate in horseplay on the training area. There will be no unnecessary talking during instruction periods.
Instruction must be followed without question or hesitation. Remember Tae Kwon Do is a form of self-disipline. Students may address questions to the Instructors at an appropriate time after class has concluded.
Students must bow on entry and exit of the do jang and at any time the Instructor commands.
Students must wear the official UTF Black Belt School uniform at all times when training. Only plain black/dark t-shirts (no collar) may be worn under the uniforms.
NO jewellery is to be worn in class.
Out of respect for Instructors and class mates, students must have good personal hygiene - clean uniform, clean body, control body odour, long hair must be tied up and fingernails and toenails to be kept short. You may be asked not to train if these requirements are not kept.
If you are a high yellow belt or above you must know your "Student Creed".
